Definition
The technique of driving end-of-life geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites into permanent lunar-region storage, alleviating GEO orbital debris pressure. Lunar space has greater capacity than traditional graveyard orbits. The strategy comprises three segments: low-thrust escape from Earth, free-flying low-energy transfer, and low-thrust lunar insertion with neck closure.
