Definition

An inequality constraint in optimal control problems that restricts state variables (e.g., position, velocity) rather than control variables. Unlike control constraints, state constraints may cause adjoint variables to jump at constraint activation/exit times, complicating both theoretical analysis and numerical solution.

Application Value

This concept provides fundamental support in cislunar space research and mission design. In practical applications, the appropriate analysis method should be selected based on specific mission scenarios and constraints.
