A transfer strategy for sending end-of-life GEO satellites to the Moon: low-thrust raises the satellite from GEO into a low-energy cislunar transfer, then low-thrust in the lunar region progressively reduces the spacecraft's energy (increases Jacobi energy) until the neck closes for permanent capture. The free-flying segment leverages natural dynamics to save fuel.
Application Value
This term is widely used in cislunar transfer trajectory design to optimize transfer trajectories and reduce delta-V consumption.
