Effective Potential Function
Author: Tianjiang Shuo Website: https://cislunarspace.cn
Definition
A scalar function in the circular restricted three-body problem formed by combining gravitational and centrifugal potentials: Ω = ½(x² + y²) + (1-μ)/r₁ + μ/r₂. It governs the motion constraints of an unpowered spacecraft. Orbit control essentially changes the value of Ω through propulsion to achieve a new trajectory with equivalent dynamical properties.
Application Value
This control method can be applied to spacecraft attitude stabilization, orbit keeping, and maneuver trajectory optimization in cislunar space missions, improving mission execution flexibility and reliability.
