Orbit Chaining
Author: Tianjiang Shuo Website: https://cislunarspace.cn
Definition
A technique to form initial guesses by connecting intermediate orbits within a halo orbit family. Since Jacobi constants vary continuously in the orbit family, inserting intermediate halo orbits between departure and target orbits yields a smooth energy transition for the initial guess.
Application Value
The Halo orbit family provides long-term stable parking points for cislunar space missions, serving as a transit station to the lunar south pole region and deep space.
