Orbital Rendezvous

Definition
A controlled approach process in which two spacecraft match position and velocity on the same orbit. In the three-body framework, orbital rendezvous is far more complex than two-body: CR3BP admits no closed-form solutions, and transfer time, phase difference, and amplitude difference produce coupled effects on velocity increment. This paper studies rendezvous on Earth-Moon L2 Halo orbits, covering same-orbit different-phase and cross-amplitude cases.
Application Value
The Orbital Rendezvous plays a significant role in cislunar space mission design, analysis, and control. In orbital design, it can be leveraged for transfer trajectory optimization; in navigation and control, it improves mission execution precision and reliability; in system analysis, it facilitates deeper understanding of complex multi-body dynamical behavior, guiding mission planning and risk assessment.
