Definition
The periodic perturbation caused by the Moon's orbital eccentricity (about 0.0549) on orbits near the Earth-Moon libration points. As the Moon moves between perigee and apogee, the gravitational field at the libration point varies with the lunar orbital phase over a period of about 27.3 days. This perturbation is a primary reason why Earth-Moon libration point orbit stationkeeping is more challenging than in the Sun-Earth system. Accurate assessment requires modeling over at least 21 days to capture one full lunar orbital period.
