Definition
A geometric connection between invariant manifolds of two distinct periodic orbits: the unstable manifold of one periodic orbit intersects the stable manifold of another in phase space, forming a transfer channel between the two orbits. In the PCR3BP framework, the paper uses heteroclinic connections between Sun-planet libration point orbits (Lyapunov orbits) for short-time interplanetary natural transport. When the unstable manifold of the inner Sun-planet system and the stable manifold of the outer system satisfy the spatial overlap condition, the third body can depart from the departure system's libration point orbit, switch manifolds, and reach the vicinity of the target planet. The paper shows that only Jupiter-Saturn and Uranus-Neptune pairs satisfy this condition in the solar system.
