Definition

The energy condition that permits spacecraft to pass through the L₁ neck region: Jacobi energy C must satisfy C₂ < C < C₁ (3.1722 < C < 3.1884 in the Earth–Moon system). When C is just below C₁, the neck barely opens for low-energy transfers; when C < C₂, the L₂ neck also opens, allowing spacecraft to enter and exit the exterior region.
