Definition
The direction of spacecraft entry relative to the target orbit's velocity at insertion. Acceleration insertion enters from the orbit interior, deceleration from the exterior. Combined with flyby direction, this classifies DRO transfers into four categories: retrograde-acceleration, retrograde-deceleration, prograde-acceleration, and prograde-deceleration.
