Definition

Fundamental invariant structures in Hamiltonian dynamics, guaranteed by the Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser theorem: under small non-integrable perturbations, invariant tori sufficiently far from resonance conditions persist. KAM tori act as barriers in phase space, confining the extent of chaotic orbits.
