Definition
In least-squares orbit determination, the matrix formed by H^T * H from the extended coefficient matrix H. Positive definiteness of the normal matrix is necessary for a unique solution in parameter estimation. In conventional two-body constellation SST orbit determination, the normal matrix becomes ill-conditioned or rank-deficient due to multicollinearity among column vectors.
