Definition
Eigenvalues of the monodromy matrix C in Floquet theory. Characteristic multipliers govern the evolution of perturbations near a periodic orbit: multipliers with modulus greater than 1 correspond to exponentially divergent unstable modes, modulus equal to 1 to neutral modes (center manifold), and modulus less than 1 to decaying stable modes. For Halo orbits, the six multipliers are one real value greater than 1, its reciprocal, two unit real values, and one complex conjugate pair.
