Definition
The problem studying the motion of a small mass particle under the gravitational attraction of two primary bodies moving in circular orbits around their common barycenter. It is the fundamental model for studying libration point orbits.
Application Value
The Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem is the core model for analyzing libration point orbits. Within this framework, the five libration point positions can be precisely calculated, and their stability characteristics can be analyzed. Special orbits such as halo orbits and Lissajous orbits are all designed based on CRTBP. Although actual missions need to consider elliptical orbital effects and perturbations, the orbital geometry and dynamic characteristics provided by CRTBP remain the starting point for understanding real systems, serving as an important reference for high-fidelity models.
