Definition
Targeting parameters in deep space trajectory design. The B-plane is a plane passing through the target body's center and perpendicular to the incoming hyperbolic asymptote. The B-vector is the projection of the asymptote onto this plane; its direction and length determine the flyby geometry. In practice, periapsis altitude and inclination constraints are mapped to B-plane parameters, and the transfer trajectory is solved iteratively via differential correction.
