Definition
A trajectory optimization approach that derives optimal control laws from necessary conditions (such as the Pontryagin Minimum Principle) and solves the resulting two-point boundary value problem via shooting methods. Provides theoretical optimality guarantees but is sensitive to costate initial guesses.
