Definition
The minimum angular distance from the Sun at which the camera can operate normally; it is complementary to the maximum observation phase angle. When the Sun is near the camera FOV, stray light overwhelms target signal and the camera must shut down. The paper calculates a demand of 50 degrees for GEO observations from cislunar libration points, with maximum observation phase angle approximately 128 degrees. This angle is critical for determining blackout durations in constellation design.
