Definition
A relative motion coordinate frame centered on a spacecraft in a reference circular orbit. The x-axis points along the radial direction (positive away from the primary body), the y-axis along the velocity direction, and the z-axis is normal to the orbital plane. This frame provides the reference for the Clohessy-Wiltshire equations and is the foundation for proximity rendezvous and docking analysis. When the separation between two spacecraft is much smaller than the orbital radius, relative motion can be described by the linearized C-W equations.
