Definition
A connected region on the Poincaré map filled with chaotic orbits, distinguished from regular 'island chains' enclosed by invariant tori. Within the chaotic sea, orbits are highly sensitive to initial conditions and can visit all states in the region, enabling material transport between different phase space regions. By comparing Poincaré maps at different Jacobi constants, the paper finds that as energy increases (Jacobi constant decreases), the chaotic sea expands; at C=3.03, both the Mars region and part of the Earth region fall within the chaotic sea, making long-time Mars-to-Earth natural transport possible.
