Definition
An approximate model that couples the Sun-Earth and Earth-Moon CR3BPs by linking them through their orbital phases in inertial space. This allows manifold trajectories of the Earth-Moon problem to be transformed into the Sun-Earth barycentric synodic frame and intersected with Sun-Earth manifold trajectories for low-energy transfer design. It neglects solar gravity effects on the Earth-Moon segment and requires validation with full ephemeris models.
Application Value
In orbital design, analysis, and control, dynamics models are used to predict spacecraft trajectories, with equations of motion solved numerically or analytically. This concept underpins critical mission capabilities including orbital maneuver design, orbit improvement, and formation flying.
