Definition
An orbit optimization problem with minimum transfer time as the objective function. In the low-thrust scenario, the engine throttle parameter is always 1 (full thrust), and the thrust direction is determined by Pontryagin's minimum principle. Compared to fuel-optimal transfer, time-optimal transfer consumes more propellant but achieves shorter flight duration.
Application Value
Time-Optimal Transfer plays an important role in orbit maneuver design, analysis, and transfer planning for cislunar missions.
