Definition
The maximum displacement of a halo orbit along the x-axis (the line connecting the two primary bodies) in the rotating frame. Unlike the out-of-plane amplitude A_z and the in-plane amplitude A_y, A_x represents the extent of the orbit along the primary-primary direction. In the Richardson third-order analytical approximation, A_x is uniquely determined by A_z, and the constraint relationship among the three amplitudes is a fundamental condition for halo orbit design.
Application Value
Radial Amplitude is an important orbit type in cislunar trajectory design, widely applied in mission planning.
