Definition
In L1-point transfer trajectories, a transition arc connecting the near-Earth parking orbit to the L1 stable manifold. Since the stable manifold's closest approach to Earth is ~0.1 Earth-Moon distances, a velocity impulse is applied at point P on the parking orbit to fly to point Q on the manifold. Varying the manifold energy and positions of P and Q optimizes energy cost.
Application Value
Connection arcs are transition trajectories between near-Earth parking orbits and L1 stable manifolds. By optimizing the positions of P and Q points and the manifold energy, connection schemes with lower energy cost can be found.
