China Approves First Commercial Satellite IoT Trial with Tianqi Constellation

Summary: China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has approved Beijing Guodian Gaoke Technology Co. to conduct a two-year commercial pilot for satellite-based internet of things (IoT) services. The Tianqi Constellation — China's first low-Earth orbit IoT satellite constellation — becomes the country's first LEO satellite IoT system approved for commercial satellite IoT services, covering marine fisheries, energy and water resources, transportation, and logistics.
