Chang'e-5 Lunar Samples Arrive in UK
Summary: According to a BBC report on May 9, 2025, lunar samples collected by China's Chang'e-5 mission have arrived in the UK, safely transferred to a high-security laboratory in Buckinghamshire, England. Professor Mahesh Anand of The Open University became the first and only scientist in the UK — and among the few internationally — granted permission to borrow and study the samples. These specimens represent humanity's first access to lunar surface material in nearly 50 years, following the U.S. Apollo missions and Soviet Luna program.
